Tecnoclima SMARTBOXY units are designed, developed and manufactured to simplify as well as minimize installation intervention and to achieve maximum energy savings through advanced high-efficiency technology, supported by the latest generation of intelligent electronics for management, control and regulation, which in total autonomy provides the dosage of thermal and cooling energy in relation to the actual needs of the treated environments: heating or cooling only when and where it is needed.
Tecnoclima SMARTBOXY units are available in multiple versions and configurations to meet diversified application needs.
Suitable for environments with medium to large volumes, such as e.g. stores, show rooms, gyms, supermarkets, shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, stations railways, airports etc.
The units can be configured for high-efficiency energy recovery in applications where it is necessary to provide air renewal ensuring an excellent level of comfort and at the same time meeting the reference Laws and Regulations.
The SMARTBOXY unit is a compact solution that fulfills the functions of everything needed for air conditioning/heating, treatment and renewal in the treated environment throughout the year.

There are also additional set-ups available such as gas heating, water heating, electric heating, steam humidification, hot gas reheat, etc.
SCROLL MULTI-COMPRESSORS & ELECTRONIC EXPANSION VALVES
The adoption of SCROLL compressors, operating with R410A fluid and arranged in tandem configuration in the individual refrigerant circuits, combined with the adoption of electronic expansion valves enable the implementation of high energy efficiency and precision response, especially at part loads, resulting in maximum seasonal efficiencies and reduced energy consumption.
SUPPLY AND RETURN AIR VENTILATION, RATIONALIZED AND
ENERGY-EFFICIENT
PLUG FAN technology with EC brushless motor directly coupled to the impeller allows to achieve high energy efficiency and the possibility of air flow rate adjustment in relation to the conditions and needs of use: self-adaptive system in maintaining the air flow rate when the resistances of the aeraulic distribution/diffusion system change, reduced air flow rate at partial loads and if required when the desired temperature is reached.
EXTERNAL FANS
These are axial fans with a directly coupled motor, protected by safety grilles and characterized by high efficiency and low noise levels.
Optional EC version with electronic speed control that allows to:
- increase the operating range of the unit in cooling mode at low outdoor temperature
- further reduce the noise level
- reduce power consumption
AIR QUALITY
- Basic filtration in class COARSE 60% (ex G4) with possible integration of accessory filters with efficiency up to ePM1 85% (exF9)
- Air renewal with CO2 or VOC control for MSV and MCV configurations
- Humidification and dehumidification with air humidity control (accessory)
AIR RENEWAL WITH ACTIVE THERMODYNAMIC RECOVERYThe MSV, MCV and M-RT configurations make possible to realize the recovery of energy contained in the exhaust air through direct transfer to the thermodynamic cycle implemented by the units in heating and cooling operation. Energy recovery is also combined with an increase in the operating range of the units in relation to the exhaust air flow rate.

CONFIGURATION WITH ACCESSORY MODULES INTEGRATED INTO THE BASE UNIT
All SMARTBOXY units, in the “cooling only” and “reversible heat pump” versions, can be configured, in relation to specific plant requirements, with factory-integrated functional modules within the base unit. There are 10 functional modules and a wide choice of accessories, all to be selected in order to define the best proposed plant engineering for the specific application.
- Filtration modules (M-F1/2/3/4) from ePM10 80% (ex M6) to ePM1 85% (ex F9)
- Mixing and free-cooling module (M-SV) including 2 motorized dampers and air quality sensor. Without exhaust fan for air expulsion
- Mixing and free-cooling module (MCV) cincluding 3 motorized dampers, exhaust fan and air quality sensor. This module also provides thermodynamic energy recovery of the exhaust air
- Integrative/alternative gas condensing heating (M-G) aincluding high-efficiency heat exchanger and new generation burner with continuous modulation of heat output: efficiencies up to 106%, hygienic combustion with no carbon monoxide (CO) emissions and very low nitrogen oxide emissions. Low NOx - Classe 5
- Integrative/alternative hot water heating (M-HW) with 2 row coil with copper pipes and aluminum fins that can be equipped with 2-way or 3-way modulating valve accessory
- Electric heating (M-BE) with battery and power modulator
- Steam humidification (M-U) of the immersed electrode type with probe to control the humidity of the environment
- Post-heating (M-PR) realized with condensation heat recovery coil produced in the cooling thermodynamic cycle
- Condensation heat recovery coil (M-RC) of remote systems for commercial refrigeration
- Cross-flow heat recuperator(M-RT) to recover energy from exhaust air

The new generation of control electronics is designed to process the unit’s maximum energy efficiency under various operating conditions while ensuring maximum system reliability. With SMART-B CONTROL it is possible to manage all the functions of the unit, control and adjust the operating parameters of both the rooftop unit itself and the system to which it is connected.
SMART-B CONTROL includes:
- CPLC controller properly programmed for the various functions and operating parameters ensuring a logic of optimization energy in the management of the various components constituents of the unit and allowing to reduce costs of operation;
- safety algorithms and alarms display;
- scheduling of operation over different time slots and daily profiles;
- RS485 serial interface - MODBUS communication protocol;
- Remote panel PR-TOUCH, advanced touch-screen accessory version, accessory, for simultaneous management of up to 8 units.
PR-TOUCH
Main functions of SMART-B CONTROL:
- automatic summer-winter switching;
- control and regulation of thermo-hygrometric parameters and air quality of the treated environment (with air quality probe accessory);
- dynamic set-point of treated room temperature, based on the external air temperature;
- operation at reduced capacity, for all needs of low thermal load in the building i.e. in the night hours when the required power is lower;
- intelligent defrosting based on effective thermodynamic needs that arise during heating operation;
- differentiated sequential start-up of multiple units serving the same system in case of start-up after power failure;
- automatic or manual free-cooling management.
